UNESCO supports that the early years are the most important years in the lives of children. This is when they develop their basic physical, social, emotional and mental abilities. It is also the time when they develop the basic framework for their lifelong values. Main objectives for their parents and educators are to help them:
  • Learn and choose healthy, active behaviour.
  • Explore and play in safe and interesting places.
  • Develop self-respect and show love and peace in their relationships (Binder, D, 2009)
According to scientific research, the most appropriate age for all kinds of intervention is the Pre School age. Therefore, educational intervention, should take place during this age as well (IFOSE proceedings). It is of crucial importance to identify the particular needs of preschool age children and present in a simple, practical and comprehensible way, a frame of special directives for the parents based on pedagogical methods and fundamental educational principles. Parents' contribution is of great importance therefore appropriate training and appropriate leaflets with concrete guidelines and proposals should be provisioned (Tzikas, A. 2000).
In this respect, the International Foundation of Olympic and Sport Education organized three 3 International conferences titled: "A new generation changes the world" aiming to introduce social refinement in all school grades. Usually priority is given only to the academic qualities, while socialization process is underestimated. IFOSE appointed the writing development to Professor and Curriculum developer Dr. Deanna Binder. The guidebook provides a pedagogic framework and comprehensive information with live examples for the parents so that they effectively communicate with the members of their families. This article highlights the developmental stages of this initiative and presents directives, proposals and advices included in the Parents' Guidebook. Encephalos 2009, 46(4):183-188.
