CONCLUSION
1. We consider that the initiative of IFOSE to establish the European Research Centre for the prevention of unsporting behaviours addresses important shared concerns for the European sport community. The centre will therefore complement and benefit from the work of existing organizations and institutes, for example, those working on fair play, and sport to combat crime. It will seek to bring together to work on specific issues and problems, leading experts, academics and practitioners from many national and international organizations, Universities, foundations, and Fair play Committees. The centre will focus on those aspects of unsporting behaviours, which are within the control, or influence of sporting and educational authorities:
· Violence, aggression, vandalism
· Cheating and corruption
· Exclusion, discrimination and bigotry
It will work on the prevention of unsporting behaviours at all levels of sport - with individuals (players and performers, teachers, coaches, officials and administrators); clubs; and organizations, institutes and federations. The prevention of unsporting behaviours and the promotion of good sport is a responsibility shared by all those in sport.
The centre will promote educational activities and programs, working with:
Organized sport (clubs, federations leagues)
Schools, universities, colleges and institutes training teachers and coaches;
Non-organized sport (play, fitness and leisure, youth activities)
Governmental and non –governmental organizations
2. We look forward to further collaboration and sharing expertise and experience towards the establishment of the centre.
3. We welcome the IFOSE’s proposal that the center be established in Greece Greece Europe to cooperate with IFOSE for the promotion of the center.
